The Ornithocheirus

The Ornithocheirus (or-neth-oh-k-eye-russ) are a series of biomechanical pteranodontoids that serve as highly maneuverable and heavily armed, flight vessels. Orniths are capable of submersible function, are equipped with weapons, and can operate without a pilot. There are just six Ornithocheirus in existence, and they are used exclusively by Surface Operational and the Sorority of Defense.

The Ornithocheirus series owes its design to the Sixth-Gen hizak Kadol Polvix of Pentulax Constructs. He utilized cellular biology cultivated from the preserved remains of an Ornithocheirid, found on the bay floor in Greenland, to create this advanced flyer. The remains of the lone beast, trapped in an ice sheet that had melted over the course of the 22nd century, were retrieved from Greenland Hydrothermal by Second Ramaxian engineers. After completing its cerebral core design, geneticists at Orta Biologic cloned a life form, fitting it with a bio-tharspin hull from Pentulax Constructs. Once its organic neural base fused to its tharspin body, a photovoltaic ‘fluid-tharspin’ coat developed; a metallic skin that appears seamless, as if alive.

The Ornithocheirus remains the only life-form not telepathically connected to the Collective. Trained as an operative of Orta, it must synchronize all experiences and mission logs with Pentox every 22 hours. Though designed for a single operator, Ornith’s can house two marixi between the poles for up to five years (there are two hibernation units, a sanitation unit, and private storage); it can also serve as short- and long-range transport for up to five femmar.
