In the years that Ramaxia sent scouts between the poles, an urgent and persistent issue emerged involving the sexual assault of helovx males, primarily by the matrix caste and to a lesser extent by their hizaki administrators. World Oceans documented hundreds of incidents within isolated settlements and at large helovx-run ports.
After the Fifth Generation engaged in outreach, increased contact with femmar became limited to hizaki and bizaki; in the era of the Sixth Gen, a cohesive rape culture developed in helovx ports where prostitution and sexual coercion were common. The prevalent attitude of Ramaxian World Oceans was to condone, normalize, and excuse more violent incidents. Because economic trade with Ramaxia was essential during the Age of Diplomacy, helovx governments ignored the rampant sexual objectification and reports of violence.
The Ninth Gen era came on the heels of the Australian Genocide, and helovx-nations like Brasilia, Aotearoa, and Eurislam began restricting male presence at commercial ports. Under the administration of the Ninth, incidents of sexual assault against helovx males were notable for their violence.
CM2 Lekada Wram commented on these incidents, stating: Men manufacture these sexual assaults to remain relevant. They’ve lost their standing among women and refuse to accept that their place in this world is beneath a Ramaxian boot.
In the last decade, Tenth Gen appointments into positions of authority, combined with the influx of young Eleventh Gen officers into the Polar Fleet and Polar Air Command, has reshaped social interactions with helovx men into a form of sexual economy. Many helovx ports that see regular complements of Fleet and PAC have at least one area zoned to connect femmar and their gold coins to sex workers, most of them male.
According to Tavo Ex, however, this perceived ‘sex work’ fuels the existing rape culture:
–less violent, yes, but it still fosters an atmosphere that’s unsafe for helovx males. (…) Eleventh Gen Marixi and Fleet civilian specialists have become used to sexualized behavior from these port-residing helovx males. When fleet and fleet adjacent citizens encounter males outside of these environments, harassment is a prevalent problem, creating an atmosphere in which sexual assault is more likely to occur.
Hostile attitudes and inappropriate actions toward Helovx men, tolerated by the Ramaxian World Oceans and Helovx governments, continue to hinder the establishment of a safe environment for Helovx men.
