The benthic domes that house Ramaxia’s major cities contain small habitat sectors within their expansive footprint; engineers built domes this way to accommodate future generations and include natural landscapes outside metro sectors. Residents do not see the structural makeup of a dome due to Atmospheric-Shell Technology.
The AS technology creates a habitat inside the dome that camouflages its structure, maintains living conditions, and cycles weather patterns. It also maintains set temperatures*, depending on the dome. In far eastern Orta, the mean temperature is 12°F, but in Utama, it’s a balmy 30°F, because it is the highest elevated of the domes, and the only dome partially exposed to the surface. The Toxican domes and Mynu are comfortable at 17°F, while the northernmost Pikalit and southern Vanda domes are warmer at 20°F.
Beneath the ice and within subglacial landscapes, mountains, and valleys, the temperatures fluctuate from -73ºF in the east to 55ºF near the exposed western coast, where temperatures are the warmest throughout the year in the West Islands.
The atmospheric shell cycles weather patterns, with permanent light wind conditions. Tepid rain falls one day a month in West Pikalit, Vanda, and the Toxican domes, while warm rain cycles weekly in Utama and Mynu. During these rains, temperatures rise so nitrate-rich waters can hydrate the subglacial fauna and recharge dome waterscapes. Within the agricultural dome of East Pikalit, rains cycle over frost marches, plantations, ranches, and farms. During the hibernation months (Subiz to Buxol) torrential rain falls once a week within every dome except North and East Pikalit, and Orta, to aid in cleaning the cityscapes.
Subterranean Day Cycles
After the production of the Second Ramaxian Gen, atmospheric shells began cycling night and day, to force the naturally laborious bizaki to separate work from life. A typical day inside the dome presents a cloudy, dark blue, or purple sky, with no direct suvlight or view of the suva.

Night appears late in the afternoon as darkness, with no direct view of Ixco or the stars.

Between the Poles and Off World
Domed bases between the poles do not contain atmospheric shells. Clear dirtoxian glass encloses Ramaxia Primada, the only seafloor station kept warm enough in specific sectors to house helovx year round, while others are sealed tharspin structures without AS Technology.
Interstellar bases (like those on Tharso) are also domed with pure tharspin, but atmospheric shells control proper Ramaxian temperatures and render landscapes on glass panel walls. This window-camouflage maintains the mental health of the citizens stationed on off-world.
